About the role
This job provides security for patients, guests and employees as assigned; enforces company policies and procedures; and performs assigned duties that ensure the security of patients, guests, and employees in a courteous and professional manner.
Responsibilities
- Enforces all company safety and security rules, regulations, and policies on company property.
- Conducts routine inspections of on-site and off-site locations of the company.
- Investigates accidents and other incidents which are assigned and reports all occurrences in a timely manner.
- Performs opening/lockdown of all buildings as approved by Administration.
- Participates in emergency response and related preparedness drills.
- Maintains required annual certifications and completes training requirements within required time periods.
- Operates and manages our visitor management system.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
- Other related duties as required.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- No prior work experience required
- Valid driver's license in the state of practice and clean DMV report
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (within 30 days from hire)
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) (within 60 days from hire)
- International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Certification (within 90 days of promotion/hire)
Qualifications
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individual.
- This position is considered Team A Essential Personnel and must report for duty in the event of a disaster.
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
- Ability to continuously walk the company property including outside areas, interior areas, using stairwells in 11 floor plus structure.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).
Physical and environmental demands
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work.
- Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue, but exposure or potential for exposure may occur.
- The incumbent works with patients who have known or suspected communicable diseases and may enter isolation rooms. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.
- Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
