Security Officer (unarmed)
About the role
Provide a safe environment for students, staff and visitors by patrolling exterior and interior of facilities, confronting unauthorized personnel and identifying unauthorized vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Patrol exterior and interior of facilities, observing the safety and security of staff, students, visitors and property.
- Observe and report rule violations, take disciplinary action (as defined in policy guidelines), and/or explain violations to administrator.
- Escort suspended students from the building.
- Escort students requiring disciplinary action to office.
- Welcome visitors and escort to front office.
- Escort unwanted visitors off campus.
- Provide security for after-school events.
- Deliver emergency messages.
- Escort staff members to cars at night.
- Prepare safety and security briefings.
- Provide on-call support in emergencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Formal police training.
- 0 - 2 years experience in security.
- Basic communication skills and military police training.
- Operating knowledge of portable radio/base station, surveillance video equipment, and still photography equipment preferred at hire.
- Valid Colorado Driver's License.
- First Aid/CPR Certification within three months of hire, and District van license must be obtained within six months of hire.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds.
- Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
