Security Officer (Temporary)

About the role

Kamehameha Schools, Hawaii Campus is seeking a Temporary Security Officer to provide security services for students, faculty, staff, visitors, and facilities. The role includes monitoring CCTV cameras, conducting patrols, enforcing parking regulations, and responding to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and secure environment by adhering to security protocols and procedures.
• Monitor CCTV cameras and enforce traffic and parking regulations.
• Provide safety and security inspection services and investigate incidents.
• Oversee traffic flow, crowd control, and manage visitor and delivery access.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and pursue, apprehend, and detain individuals.
• Enforce entry restrictions and keep detailed records of campus entries and exits.
• Conduct safety inspections and document incidents.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/Equivalent
• At least 1 year of related work experience
• Valid Hawaii Driver's license and current driving abstract
• Current DCCA Guard Employee License or ability to obtain certification within 60 days from date of hire
• Current standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months from date of hire
• Ability to work independently and accommodate a rotational schedule, including 24/7 availability
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in computer applications for word processing, spreadsheets, and email
• Competence in typing and computer use for detailed incident reporting

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a security, police, or emergency response role
• Security experience within a K-12 school environment
• Knowledge of security-related software and applications
• Specialized training in Crisis Intervention, drone operation, defensive tactics, or similar programs

Physical And Mental Requirements

• Frequently writes by hand, stands, walks, lifts/carry objects up to 50 pounds, sits, performs desk-based computer tasks, grasps using light or fine manipulation, twists, bends, stoops, squats, kneels, crawls, climbs, reaches, or works above shoulder, or grasp firmly.
