Responsibilities

  • Hiring and training
  • Interviewing, hiring, and training security staff, including new hires and current staff.
  • Training topics may include workplace searches, drug and alcohol procedures, and safety and security topics.
  • Scheduling
  • Overseeing the daily workflow, schedules, and assignments of security staff.
  • Performance monitoring
  • Making sure performance is being monitored and conducting daily briefings. This may include accompanying guards on patrols to assess their performance and verify adherence to security rules.
  • Incident response
  • Responding to incidents, monitoring CCTV and security systems, and performing regular patrols to identify potential breaches.
  • Liaison
  • Liaising with the on-site manager and staff to provide advice and receive feedback.
  • Policies and procedures
  • Establishing and carrying out policies and procedures required by the organization.
  • Record keeping
  • Keeping diligent records to document all security-related instances that occur at their place of employment.
  • Training programs
  • Working with security managers to create training programs so that all security guards can have the knowledge to fulfill their responsibilities.
  • Continuous training
  • Giving continuous training for current equipment or instructing employees on how to use newly adopted technology.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to pass any State-required training or other qualifications for licensing.
  • Must be able to pass a state licensing test if driving a company-owned or client-provided vehicle.
  • Must possess one or more of the following: Service in the active-duty military, military reserves, or National Guard Service in Auxiliary Police or Police Cadets.
  • Minimum of one year verifiable and successful supervisory experience in security-related industry.
  • Associate's degree or higher in any discipline.
  • Be at least 18 years of age, or higher if required by the state (21 years, if armed).
  • Be able to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
