Security Officer - Sergeant

About the role

We are searching for a full-time, night-shift Sergeant – Security Officer at Texas Children’s Hospital – Medical Center. In this position, you will perform field supervision of patrol and standing post activities, supervise and personally conduct investigative work, and carry out assigned administrative tasks under the direction of the Commissioned Security Lieutenant or above. The role involves protecting staff, patients, visitors, and assets of Texas Children’s Hospital, providing a visible front-line supervisory presence, efficiently handling customer inquiries, conducting weapons and equipment inspections, and ensuring smooth traffic flow. You will also support Security Operations Managers and Lieutenants and act as a shift supervisor in their absence as directed.

Responsibilities

• Provides supervisory security functions at designated posts and patrol locations
• Patrols the Hospital
• Monitors traffic and parking in designated areas
• Operates Texas Children’s Hospital vehicles and performs other assigned duties
• Responds to emergency situations
• Attends training and keeps certifications up to date
• Performs limited supervisory duties

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• LCSO – Commissioned Security Officer certification by the Texas Department of Public Safety – Private Security Board, acquired within 180 days of entering the role
• CAHSO – Certified Advanced Healthcare Security Officer certification by the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS), acquired within 90 days of entering the role
• Texas Driver’s License, acquired within 90 days of entering the role
• Must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check demonstrating a clear driving record as defined by Texas Children’s Fleet Safety Policy and maintain a clean driving record
• Must pass a Physical Fitness Test performed by Texas Children’s Employee Health Services and/or an affiliate by the job entry date
• 3 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience required
• A Bachelor’s degree may substitute for 2 years of the required experience
