About the role
Security Officer (full time, variable shift position) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
Responsibilities
- Protects patients, visitors, staff, physicians, property and facilities from accidents, bodily harm, fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.
- Enforces PH&S, facility and security policies and regulations.
- Investigate reports of potential criminal conduct against PH&S staff, visitors, staff, and property; respond and assist in restraining patients; detain individuals when necessary or at the direction of a police officer; and provide protective services to high-risk areas.
- Conduct vehicle and foot patrols, patient transports, site surveys, threat assessments, patient standbys, alarm/nuisance call response, special details and assist in training of clinic personnel.
- May be required to support any Providence or affiliated organizations within the Oregon Region.
Requirements
- Oregon Private Security Armed/Unarmed Professional - Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training, or
- Oregon Private Security Unarmed Professional - Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training
- Upon request: Driving may be necessary as part of this role.
- Caregivers are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving.
- Coursework/Training: College level coursework in professionally related fields such as criminal justice, social work, psychology or any social science.
- H.S. Diploma or GED
- 1 year of Security/law enforcement experience such as corrections, police, reserve and military police.
- Direct patient care experience in a healthcare industry.
Qualifications
- 1 year of experience using personal computer with standard Microsoft applications.
Skills
- Knowledge of security protocols and procedures.
- Ability to enforce and interpret policies and regulations.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform physical tasks.

Pay
The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
