Qualifications
- Ability to work without supervision and interpret/apply Policy and Procedures
- Strong oral/written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, including sensitivity to multi-cultural issues
- Good physical condition
- BLS certification required
Preferred: One year of continuous recent security/law enforcement experience (civilian or military).
Physical & Mental Demands
- Frequently stand, walk, and sit
- Occasionally use hands to handle objects/tools, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 200 pounds
- Vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Make extreme decisions within short time frames
- Exposure to bio-hazardous environments
Responsibilities
- Perform frequent inspection tours (patrols) of the facility to guard against trespassing, loitering, theft, property damage, fire, vandalism, security breaches, accidents, and other hazardous conditions; respond as first line of defense to such incidents
- Render timely emergency assistance in incidents such as patient restraint, assault, theft, or fire
- Maintain knowledge of Safety & Security Procedures and Sky Lakes Safety and Disaster Policies
- Be thoroughly cognizant of the Security Officer’s role in Hospital Internal and External Disaster Plans
- Operate hospital vehicles safely and patrol parking areas to enforce compliance with parking procedures
- Participate in investigations; maintain records and prepare incident/situation reports
- Consult with and keep supervisor informed of activities, needs, and problems
- Maintain department supplies and equipment; request supplies as needed
- Attend at least 80% of monthly staff meetings and all scheduled in-services
- Demonstrate competence in relation to the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategic plan through proficiency testing, skill demonstration, and documentation review
- Perform other duties as assigned
