Security Officer - Public Safety

About the role

This position plays a key security role across campus, primarily stationed at the Robert E. Kennedy Library. Responsibilities include performing security rounds, maintaining communications with the Public Safety department, providing access control measures, and displaying a high level of professionalism and customer service while interacting with students, faculty, staff, and guests.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• California Driver’s License
• Successful completion of a background check and physical exam
• Knowledge of and/or the ability to learn how to use applicable public safety related equipment and systems

Qualifications

• Ability to effectively use applicable safety related equipment and security systems and software
• Knowledge of general procedures and regulations related to security and public safety
• Ability to detect and respond appropriately to potential hazards, safety emergencies, and/or crime situations
• Ability to effectively communicate and de-escalate non-violent crisis situations
• Ability to observe and recall details and incidents

Pay

Anticipated Hiring Range: $53,736 - $58,164 per year
Classification Range: $41,532 - $60,516 per year
