About the role
The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe environment for patients, visitors, and professionals at Samaritan Healthcare. This position involves continuous patrols, monitoring CCTV cameras, responding to emergencies, and providing escort services.
Responsibilities
- Perform interior and exterior security checks hourly and twice per shift respectively.
- Monitor CCTV cameras and respond to the Emergency Department.
- Control access by stopping unauthorized vehicles and directing them to appropriate areas.
- Maintain a keen sense of awareness to detect suspicious activities, safety hazards, and unauthorized individuals.
- Respond immediately to requests for assistance and maintain availability by page, phone, or radio.
- Lock/unlock doors as assigned and provide shuttle and escort services.
- Complete incident reports and daily officer logs.
- Ensure no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies.
- Conduct self in a professional manner and ensure personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function.
Requirements
- Three (3) years of law enforcement or military experience preferred.
- Previous industrial security and/or law enforcement training.
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (HCP) certification within 3 months of hire.
- IAHSS certification after hire.
- Demonstrate competency on department-specific equipment.
- Exercise safe judgment and follow legal and ethical guidelines.
- Communicate effectively using verbal and written skills.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Physical stamina and strength to effectively use physical restraint.
- Ability to spend long hours on patrol or at a monitor station.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

- Demonstrates competency on equipment listed on department specific checklist.
- Critical thinking skills: Seeks resources for direction when necessary.
- Performs independent problem solving.
- Exercises safe judgment in decision-making.
- Practices within legal and ethical guidelines.
Benefits
No benefits package is offered, but there is an extra incentive of receiving an additional 12% differential.
Pay
Salary is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
This is a per diem position working various hour shifts and days of the week, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
