Security Officer Part Time Unarmed Patrol Response

About the role

As an unarmed Security Officer at a housing shelter location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and support a welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff. You will provide exceptional customer service, communicate clearly, and respond professionally to routine concerns.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and emergency response activities at a shelter location.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, medical emergencies, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established protocols and notifying appropriate personnel.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of interior areas, exterior grounds, entrances, exits, common areas, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points, verify visitor and vendor authorization as required, maintain visitor logs, and report unauthorized entry attempts or unusual conditions.
• Document incidents, patrol observations, and security-related concerns accurately; communicate relevant information to site leadership and incoming personnel.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
