About the role

This Security Officer – Part Time Enhanced position is a flexible, dependable option for individuals looking to supplement their income, gain hands-on experience, or work toward a full-time career. As a Security Officer Part Time Patrol Evenings in Elkridge, MD, you’ll have a fixed weekly shift at an assigned site with the flexibility to earn more by picking up additional shifts.

  • Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
  • Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part-time hours one week and full-time the next—it’s up to you. This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week, with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and/or vendors by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and emergency response activities within a healthcare setting.
  • Respond to incidents, medical emergencies, behavioral health situations, and other critical events in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established protocols.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of buildings, entrances, parking areas, and perimeter locations to deter unauthorized activity and identify potential concerns.
  • Monitor access points and assist with visitor management, direction-giving, and reporting of unusual activity or facility concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Prepare clear, accurate reports of incidents, observations, and actions taken, and communicate relevant information to site leadership and/or emergency responders.

Requirements

  • At least one year of security-related experience is required.
  • Proof of a high school diploma or GED is required by the client.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must pass a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • Must pass a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
