Security Officer Part Time Entry Control

About the role

As an Access Control Officer at a busy logistics and distribution location in Birmingham, AL, you will help maintain a secure environment by managing entry points, verifying badges and visitor access, monitoring activity, and conducting routine patrols. You will remain visible to help deter security-related incidents while delivering outstanding customer service and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, visitors, and delivery personnel by carrying out site-specific access-control procedures, policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Monitor and control access to the logistics and distribution location by verifying credentials, maintaining visitor and contractor logs, and directing authorized individuals to appropriate areas.
• Screen incoming and outgoing vehicles, drivers, and delivery personnel in accordance with site requirements; report unauthorized access attempts or irregular activity to site leadership.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established escalation and reporting procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of access points, loading areas, parking locations, and the business perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation and drug screen in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Preferred Qualifications

• Loss prevention experience.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet.
• Customer service experience.
• Access control and badge experience.

Pay

$15.24 / hour

Schedule

• Tuesday: 03:00 PM - 11:00 PM
• Wednesday: 03:00 PM - 11:00 PM
• Saturday: 03:00 PM - 11:00 PM
