Security Officer (Part-Time)
About the role
Your role as a Security Officer (Part-Time) involves patrolling the ballpark during shifts to ensure a safe environment for guests and employees. You will also provide excellent customer service, conduct screenings, respond to incidents, and maintain confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Patrol all ballpark property as required
- Ensure security of employees, contracted building partners, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Conduct magnetometer screening and bag search screening
- Regulate and control access to restricted areas
- Respond to safety and criminal incidents, contacting emergency services if necessary
- Conduct detailed internal investigations and prepare reports
- Attend briefing sessions to understand events and activities
- Act as property first responder to alarms, medical calls, property damages, etc.
- Maintain accurate notes and log information
- Greet clients, employees, guests, and vendors professionally
- Follow established Ballpark Security protocols and procedures
- Collaborate with other departments for positive publicity
- Represent the Club in a positive and professional manner
- Complete activity logs, incident reports, repair forms, and other documents
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- At least 18 years old by start of employment
- High school diploma or GED; two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid current driver's license with a good driving record
- Must be able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark, stand for prolonged periods, ascend and descend stairs, lift and transport up to 25 pounds, and ride a bicycle for prolonged periods
- Non-Event Day Availability: At least three shifts per month, with shifts being eight hours or four hours based on operational needs
- Event Day Availability: Available to work at least 75% of ALL scheduled events during a calendar year, including Padres home games, full venue events, and Gallagher Square concerts
- Must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including a background check
Qualifications
- Maintain consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance
- Possess high degree of discretion, integrity, professionalism, and accountability
- Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Experience in report writing and Avigilon CCTV System (a plus but not necessary)
- Previous Law Enforcement/Public Safety experience (a plus but not necessary)
- Fluently bilingual in English/Spanish (a plus)

Pay and additional compensation
Per the California pay transparency law, the hourly pay rate for this position is $21.14. Part-time, non-union employees are subject to the San Diego Hospitality Minimum Wage Ordinance and rates will increase accordingly.
