About the role
As a Part-Time Security Officer in Herndon, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in industries such as Commercial Real Estate. This role offers flexibility to build a schedule that works for you and explore new roles using our Claim a Shift platform. As an Unarmed Security Officer at a commercial real estate location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to deter security-related incidents, support access control and badge activities, and provide outstanding customer service. Using computer or tablet systems, you will communicate professionally with tenants, visitors, and team members while fostering a welcoming environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to tenants, visitors, and/or contractors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities.
- Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of building interiors, exterior grounds, parking areas, access points, and perimeter areas to identify unusual conditions and deter unauthorized activity.
- Monitor access to assigned areas, verify visitor and contractor authorization as directed, and maintain accurate visitor, incident, and shift activity records.
- Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate personnel and follow site-specific escalation procedures.
- Report maintenance concerns, hazards, suspicious activity, and other security-related issues to site management and/or Allied Universal leadership.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
Qualifications
- Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
- Access control/badge experience is preferred.

$22.00 / Hour
Schedule
- Day shift: Saturday and Sunday
- 08:00 AM - 04:00 PM
