Security Officer - Museum

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Patrol and monitor premises and personnel
• Inspect buildings, equipment, and access points
• Permit entry
• Report irregularities and inform violators of policy and procedures
• Restrain trespassers
• Control traffic by directing drivers
• Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities
• Interview witnesses and obtain signatures
• Maintain building and equipment controls
• Comply with legal requirements
• Respond to alarms, emergencies, and requests for service

Qualifications

• At least two years related experience and/or training in Loss Prevention
• Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

Physical Demands

• Regularly stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 500 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
• Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration
