Security Officer, Multiple Shifts

Duties

• Investigates suspected crimes, reports findings, and arrests suspected individuals
• Directs and controls traffic, monitors parking operation, and issues parking tickets
• Investigates accidents
• Patrols the campus, business office, classrooms, recreational facilities, dormitories, hospital, facility, etc. by foot or motor vehicle while armed with handgun

Required Skills

• Attain an Armed Security License
• Qualify with a Glock 40 cal handgun
• React quickly and calmly in emergency situations and determine proper course of action
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, the public, and other employees
• Enforce laws firmly, tactfully with respect for the rights of others
• Learn to operate law enforcement equipment required in the performance of required duties
• Express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and written

Required Experience and Education

• High School Diploma required
• 3 – 12 months law enforcement work experience preferred
