About the role
This position provides consistent administration and enforcement of procedures designed to protect associates, assets, and guests of Publix facilities. Responsibilities include onsite security for support facilities, enforcing access control protocols, and responding to and assisting with interruptions of business operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining control of access to Publix facilities by associates, guests, and other non-facility personnel.
- Providing access control, routing, and shipping/receiving processing for product/equipment deliveries.
- Conducting personal observations of activities within the facility and reporting incidents or procedural deficiencies.
- Maintaining accurate security-related records and documentation, including all activity outside normal business.
- Communicating information to security supervisors, associates, or facility management.
Requirements
- At least 20 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Possess a Class D Security Officer’s License or obtain one within 90 days of hire.
- Able to withstand walking and standing for long periods of time.
- Able to work any shift, including days, nights, late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to perform mathematical computations.
- Excellent telephone communication skills.
- Able to use a two-way radio.
- Intermediate knowledge of TDPS (Transportation Driver Performance System).
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Outlook.
- Able and willing to adjust one’s style or approach in response to differing circumstances or ambiguous situations.
- Capable of working effectively without close supervision or guidance.
- Able to set priorities, plan and coordinate work activities, schedule staff, and manage resources to accomplish objectives on time and within budget.
- Capable of working productively under stressful work situations and time pressures.
- Able to develop and maintain professional, trusting, positive, and productive working relationships with associates, managers, customers, and vendors.
- Able to verify the accuracy and completeness of detailed information in documents or on the computer.
- Able to create an environment with a positive and professional service orientation for internal customers.
- Able to use “active listening” techniques to ensure understanding of information provided.

Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Publix access control procedures.
- Knowledge of outbound and inbound freight delivery procedures.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
