Security Officer II

About the role
Provides a secure and safe environment that allows patients, visitors, physicians, personnel, and volunteers to deliver or receive quality services with minimal threats against their personal well-being and property. Responsibilities include patrolling and monitoring facility premises, observing and reporting suspicious and unauthorized activities and unsafe conditions. Handles access control, key management, and emergency response and notification. Renders assistance and security-related services to staff, physicians, patients, and visitors, including monitoring and restraining violent patients. Investigates and documents incidents relative to the facility and provides liaison between staff and local law enforcement agencies.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- PSO - Proprietary Private Security Officer certification within 30 days of start date
- 1 year of recent relevant experience
Skills and Knowledge
- General knowledge of the usual duty requirements of a security officer with an emphasis on physical and emotional maturity required for high degrees of judgment and diplomacy in a healthcare environment
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to write incident reports and read business correspondence and procedure manuals
- Effective communication skills to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public
- Basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Problem-solving ability to address practical issues with limited standardization
- Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Schedule
- Per Diem/Casual (variable days and shifts, including weekends as needed)
- Shift hours: 8-hour shifts (Day/Evening/Night)
Pay
Pay Range: $30.35 to $42.48 per hour. The compensation range may vary based on geographic location, candidate experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
