Responsibilities
- Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property (by foot/vehicle); monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting/denying entry.
- Obtains help by sounding alarms.
- Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures.
- Controls traffic by directing drivers.
- Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures.
- Maintains environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls.
- Maintains organization's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
- Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Processes and prioritizes incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance, taking appropriate action.
- Receives and disseminates security-related information to concerned parties and staff members.
- Informs staff of new and updated rules, regulations, and processes pertaining to emergency situations.
- Monitors security cameras and alarm systems.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); minimum three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Current State of Texas level II Non-Commissioned Officer license.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must have held the Security Officer I position or equivalent for a minimum of 2 years with demonstrated proficiency.
Skills
- Ability to maintain control in emergency situations.
- Ability to prioritize and rearrange tasks as needed.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
Schedule
14-hour shift, 6:00 AM – 8:00 PM, Thursday – Saturday, Sunday off, then Monday – Wednesday, followed by 7 days off. Hours and schedule may vary based on operational tempo.
Physical Demands
- Frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
