Security Officer II

About the role

The Security Officer II shall protect Baptist Health patients, employees, and properties by patrolling the facility grounds, responding to emergencies, assisting patients, employees and visitors, controlling vehicular and foot traffic, and operating security CCTV. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Prior civilian or military law enforcement experience preferred
• POST certification or DD-214 required
• Annual firearms qualification with minimum score of 70% or higher
• Valid Alabama driver's license and acceptable driving record

Licenses & Certifications

• Pistol permit required

Working Conditions

• Carry approved handgun and qualify annually with proficiency score ≥70%
• Wear approved duty belt with issued equipment each work day for entirety of shift
• Sitting 15% of workday, walking 60%, standing 25%
• Able to run, bend, climb stairs
• Frequent use of hands and large muscle groups
• Constant physical movement and exertion
• May be required to push disabled vehicles out of traffic
• Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
• Frequent lifting or carrying up to 50 lb, pushing/pulling up to 150 lb
• Continuous need for clear diction and hearing sensitivity (phone or in‑person)
• High noise levels around some equipment
• Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range
• Much exposure to computer work
• Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock
• Occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals and infectious disease
• Work in restricted areas occasionally
• Indoors 50% of the time
• Exposed to various weather conditions 40% of the time
• Other duties as assigned by supervision
