About the Role
Position responsible for assisting with protecting, securing, and promoting safety and security at a Memorial Hermann Hospital campus.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be licensed as a Commissioned Security Officer by the Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security Bureau (if not licensed upon date of hire, must obtain license no more than 90 days after hire)
- Possession of a valid driver’s license (if from out of state, must obtain a Texas Driver’s license within 90 days of employment)
- Certified in Heartsaver® CPR or Heartcode BLS CPR by the American Heart Association (if not certified upon date of hire, must obtain certification no more than 90 days after hire)
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be able to understand the English language and communicate it effectively in both verbal and written form
- Proficiency in the use of computers is required
Responsibilities
- Monitors assigned areas in a manner assuring maximum visibility of the security presence
- Posts in assigned area or conducts patrols in vehicle or on foot
- Ensures security of all designated areas and access points, controls vehicular access to buildings and parking areas
- Identifies and reports all fire and safety hazards, suspicious activities, or breaches of security
- Controls access of areas and materials by administering and enforcing building visitor and materials pass programs
- Has a complete understanding of hospital, building management, and departmental policies and procedures; complies with post orders and job requirements at all times
- Responds to all security and emergency situations as dispatched or assigned; assists patients, visitors, and staff by answering questions and providing escorts, directions, and vehicle assists
- Completes and submits required security reports and activity logs within assigned shift; properly operates and cares for Security equipment; maintains knowledge of location and operation of emergency systems and equipment
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff
- Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of the community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences
- Models Memorial Hermann’s service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues
