Security Officer I

About the Role

As a Security Officer I, you will perform a full range of security activities including patrolling assigned campuses and clinics, protecting persons, property, and equipment from volatile individuals, unauthorized access, or hazards.

Responsibilities

• Patrol buildings (on foot or by vehicle) to identify security violations, investigate incidents, and respond to alarms/emergency codes.
• Control hospital access, monitor detection systems, and support helistop operations.
• De-escalate or physically restrain individuals when necessary.
• Document actions, monitor cameras, and draft reports.
• Provide protection of property and mitigate criminal activity through visible deterrents.
• Conduct proactive patrolling of VMFH buildings, parking structures, and grounds.
• Identify, report, and follow up on security and building maintenance concerns.
• Respond to activation/deactivation of alarm systems/codes and emergent incidents; evaluate circumstances and implement emergency procedures.
• Act as a liaison with appropriate stakeholders.
• Operate equipment including cellular/radio communications, electronic security systems, fire command systems, self-defense weapons, and CCTV surveillance equipment.
• Monitor unusual activity on the grounds or vicinity using access and alarm programs.
• Check doors to ensure they are secured and report signs of vandalism or equipment malfunction.
• Make determinations about access to secured areas, removal of individuals from the property, and when to contact outside law enforcement authorities.

Requirements

• Six months of related experience in security, healthcare, or related law enforcement/military experience.
• Valid Washington State Driver's License upon hire.
