About the role
Maintain a safe and secure environment for employees by patrolling and monitoring premises, personnel, and equipment at Idaho Forest Group.
Responsibilities
- Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules and regulations.
- Observe and report activities and incidents at an assigned site, providing for the security and safety of IFG property and personnel.
- Preserve order and enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.
- Control access to the facility through the admittance process.
- Perform foot patrols and vehicle driving patrols.
- Patrol site on foot or in vehicle; check for unsafe conditions, hazards, fires, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked entrances and exits, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons.
- Protect evidence or scene of incident in the event of accidents, emergencies, or security investigations.
- Respond to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents.
- Prepare Fire logs and Log Notes as required.
- Comply with all IFG and OSHA safety standards.
- Provide maintenance assistance as needed or requested.
- Maintain housekeeping of the Security office on a routine basis.
- Assist with Intermittent Fire Watch when the Mill is staffed; perform all Fire Watch when the Mill is unstaffed (weekend graveyard).
- Inspect all Petroleum Products Storage Areas (fuels, hydraulic systems, tanks, and drums) during patrols and document inspections monthly.
- Maintain an Authorized Vehicle log.
- Assist inbound traffic to their destination once determined to be authorized to enter.
- Issue Parking Permits as needed to new employees, visitors, and contractors; update the tracking spreadsheet.
- Issue warnings or notices to employees or contractors parked in unauthorized areas; secure (wheel lock) vehicles as directed by supervision.
- Maintain a tracking system of Property Removal Authorizations.
- Investigate and document incident events (trespass, medical, fire, property damage, etc.) to the Security Supervisor.
- Complete a Daily Activities Report for the Security Supervisor upon completion of each shift.
- Inspect all First Aid Stations monthly (21 cabinets), complete an inventory, and submit it to the Security Supervisor for re-order; replenish supplies during the next inspection.
- Inspect all Eye Wash Stations (16 locations); verify wash fluid is not expired, replace expired fluid, clean and flush Stationary Eye Wash Stations, and document results.
- Coordinate with the Mill Fire Department or other Emergency Responders for traffic control, escort responders to incident locations, and assist as needed.
- Perform all duties in a professional, friendly, and courteous manner.
Requirements
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to work various shifts, days, and overtime as needed.
- Capable of following instructions and communicating effectively with supervisors and colleagues.
- Valid Driver’s License with acceptable Motor Vehicle History for business travel in a company vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
- Walk frequently (may involve walking on uneven terrain).
- Climb stairs frequently.
- Continuous sitting, standing, or walking for periods greater than an hour.
- Occasional lifting/carrying up to 40 lbs.

- Clear communication (verbal and written).

- Sound judgement, objectivity, and dependability.
Work Environment
Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, and airborne particles (sawdust).
