Security Officer (Full Time Nights)

Responsibilities

• Provides a safe and secure environment for all UnityPoint Health-JRMC Hospital properties.
• Develops security procedures addressing day-to-day physical security needs of the hospital.
• Improves quality and customer service by exceeding customer expectations.
• Maintains professional customer relations with patients, visitors, staff, and physicians.
• Works closely with and maintains good relationships with outside law enforcement agencies.
• Patrols the campus grounds and buildings on foot or on mobile patrol in all weather and climate conditions.
• Determines legitimacy of persons accessing JRMC property and buildings.
• Communicates daily security on-duty activity to the Emergency Communications Center (ECC).
• Responds to emergency and routine requests for service.
• Documents relevant incidents and conducts investigations as appropriate.
• Maintains complete confidentiality of patient/hospital information.
• Maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
• Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
• Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
• Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse.
• Buys any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff.
• Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Valid Driver's License when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
• Excellent communication skills
• Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations
• Knowledge of Federal Communication guidelines regarding radio traffic etiquette
• Security Officer Experiece preferred
