Security Officer Full Time Entry Verification

About the role
As an Access Control Officer at a dynamic logistics and distribution location in San Pedro, CA, you will monitor entry points, verify access credentials, and help maintain an orderly environment for employees, visitors, and deliveries. You will conduct routine patrols, remain visible to help deter security-related incidents, and provide exceptional customer service and communication.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to clients, visitors, drivers, and/or employees by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, access-control policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
- Monitor and control access to the logistics and distribution location by verifying identification, credentials, visitor authorizations, and delivery appointments in accordance with site procedures.
- Document visitor, contractor, driver, and vehicle activity; maintain accurate access-control logs and report discrepancies or unauthorized access attempts to site leadership.
- Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established site procedures and communicating with appropriate personnel.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of entry points, dock areas, parking areas, and the business perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
Requirements
- Have at least one year of security-related experience.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Be comfortable using a computer or tablet (preferred).
- Be able to lift up to 20 pounds (preferred).
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation and drug screen in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
A guard card or license is preferred. Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
