As a Security Officer Full Time Access Control in Norfolk, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries. As an Access Control Officer at a university location, you will help create a welcoming, secure environment by monitoring entry points, verifying access credentials, maintaining a visible presence, and communicating professionally with students, staff, and visitors. You will support security-related operations through attentive observation, accurate documentation, and timely reporting of concerns. Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out site-specific access-control procedures, policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Monitor entrances, verify identification and visitor credentials, issue authorized access credentials, and maintain visitor logs in accordance with site procedures.
• Respond to incidents, access concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating matters to appropriate personnel as needed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned academic buildings, entrances, and perimeter areas to help identify unauthorized access or security-related concerns.
• Document incidents, observations, and access-control activities accurately and communicate relevant information to Allied Universal leadership and site contacts.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws as a condition of employment. Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law as a condition of employment.
• Licensing requirements subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license required for driving positions only.

Pay

$16.80 per hour.

Schedule

Full-time, day/evening shift: Monday through Thursday and Sunday, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM.
