Responsibilities
- Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle.
- Understand and fulfill obligations and responsibilities of all posts.
- Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities.
- Complete the State of NC 24-hour basic security officer course within six months of hiring.
- Complete applicable Safety & Environmental Rules training.
- Maintain daily activity reports using paper, computer, smartphone, or tablet.
- Monitor for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
- Sound alarms or call police/fire department in case of fire or unauthorized persons.
- Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances/exits.
- Assist customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Complete post order training and familiarization.
- Patrol the client’s facility (length and period determined by client).
- Control access to the client facility (foot and vehicle traffic).
- Stand for long periods, sometimes in excess of eight hours.
- Work outside in a variety of weather conditions.
- Use a computer or tablet with basic competence, including:
- Guard tour system
- Camera monitoring system
- Email program (composing and reading emails)
Requirements
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Pass any State-required training or qualifications for licensing.
- Complete site-specific training before serving as a qualified security officer.
- Have a driver’s license if driving a company or client-owned vehicle.
- Ability to operate radio, telephone equipment, and/or console monitors.
- Interact cordially and communicate with the public.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States.
- Have access to reliable transportation for short-notice response.
- Ability to work any shift, 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
- Participate in training sessions and meetings when scheduled.
- Adhere to EKG and client safety policies.
- Have a mobile phone and email address, and use them regularly.
- Operate a computer (Windows-based) and tablet with basic competency, including:
- Human resources and time entry software/websites
- Time entry phone systems
- Effectively read, write, and speak English.
- Provide a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military.
Expectations
- Ability to work overtime and on various shifts, including weekends and holidays (reasonable accommodation for religious beliefs or disabilities considered case-by-case).
- Maintain accurate records (ability to read and write).
- Comprehend policies, procedures, and concepts to respond appropriately to situations.
- Walk up and down stairs.
Pay
$19.00/hour
Schedule
11:00 PM – 7:00 AM (full-time, shifts vary)
