Security Officer-Evenings

About the role

Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital is looking for a Security Guard to join our Security Team. The Security Officer is responsible for the security of hospital employees, patients and families, visitors, and property. The role incorporates and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values, and adjusts communication to meet the special needs of the populations served.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patrol tours of the facility.
• Monitor Closed‑Circuit Television (CCTV) systems.
• Respond to all emergency code alerts.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
• Recognize special needs/concerns of populations served and adjust communication accordingly (e.g., language barriers, diminished hearing, concrete terms).
• Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Deal tactfully with co‑workers, patients, and visitors.
• Manage aggressive or violent behavior through non‑abusive physical intervention, either alone or as part of a team.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing.
• Ability to make independent decisions when needed.
• Ability to deal tactfully with co‑workers, patients, and visitors.
• Capability to perform alone or as a team member in managing aggressive or violent behavior through non‑abusive physical intervention.
• One year of prior hospital experience preferred.

Schedule

Part‑time position, 24 hours per week. Night shift from 3:30 pm to 12:00 am.
