The Security Officer – Part Time Enhanced position provides flexible, dependable hours for those looking to supplement income, gain hands‑on experience, or move toward a full‑time career with the industry leader. As a Security Officer Enhanced Part Time Access Control in Madison, WI, you’ll receive reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the option to pick up additional shifts when it works for you. The role includes a fixed‑shift commitment (“Anchor Shifts”) requiring a six‑month base schedule, plus a Claim‑A‑Shift program that lets you earn more and gain experience across multiple sites. You can work part‑time one week and full‑time the next, scaling back as needed, with the opportunity to build up to a 40‑hour week.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to clients, visitors, and delivery personnel by carrying out site‑specific access‑control procedures, policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Monitor and control access to the logistics and distribution location by verifying credentials, processing authorized visitors and contractors, and maintaining accurate access‑related records.
- Respond to access‑control alarms, incidents, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, escalating concerns according to site‑specific procedures.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of entry points, vehicle gates, loading areas, and the business perimeter to help deter unauthorized access and report unusual activity.
- Communicate professionally with personnel, drivers, and management while supporting the orderly flow of people and vehicles throughout the location.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.

- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
