Security Officer - Day Shift

About the Role

Each University of Vermont Medical Center Security Officer is assigned to a specific campus. The primary responsibilities include conducting patrol duties, responding immediately to emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance, and documenting services provided on each shift. Security Officers are expected to act in a courteous and professional manner at all times.

Emergency calls for assistance frequently require Security Officers to take the lead in controlling a violent or threatening situation after clinical and non-clinical staff have attempted to verbally deescalate. Security intervention may require detaining and/or restraining violent patients, visitors, or staff members.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record

Qualifications

• Prior security or public safety experience preferred
• Emphasis on providing a safe and dignified environment in stressful situations with a diverse patient, visitor, and staff population
