Security Officer - Community Information Center

Job Description

As a Security Officer - Public Research Library, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries. Join Allied Universal as an unarmed Patrol Officer at a prominent public library location, where you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, remain visible to help discourage security-related incidents, and support a welcoming environment through strong customer service and communication.

What You'll Do

• Provide customer service by carrying out site-specific procedures, access guidelines, and/or emergency response activities appropriate to the location.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and reporting security-related concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout public areas, staff spaces, and the exterior perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and note unusual conditions.
• Monitor entrances, exits, and visitor activity, offering directions and assistance while helping to support orderly operations within a public-facing cultural and educational location.
• Aid in de-escalation, crowd management, and/or policy reminders during busy periods, special programs, and daily operations.

Minimum Requirements

• A New York State Security Guard License is required.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• A state, county, or city issued security license is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
