About the role
This position is per diem and eligible for applicable shift pay differentials. The Security Officer will provide a safe and secure environment for the patients, visitors, and staff of Wellbridge.
Responsibilities
- Perform roving patrol of the buildings and grounds as scheduled.
- Assist with new patient entry and security procedures.
- Screen all visitors to the Campus at designated guard booths and stationary entry posts.
- Assist intake/admissions team with new patients to the campus: recording personal belongings, calming families using de-escalation techniques, and assisting with physical restraint as directed by medical personnel.
- Monitor security cameras and alarms, looking for unusual occurrences and situations.
- Investigate reports of missing property, take information, and file report internally.
- Enforce all campus safety policies and procedures: no-smoking, no contraband, no alcohol/drugs or paraphernalia.
- Assist medical staff with inspection of rooms, confiscation, and appropriate logging and disposal of same.
- Maintain key control and access control on the Campus.
- Safely transport patients using company vehicle, as needed.
- Maintain a safe and caring environment, delivering care in a culturally sensitive manner and consistent with Wellbridge mission, vision, and values.

Essential Functions
- For patient care needs, this is an on-site role.
- Consistently moves inside and outside campus areas and stands and sits for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to observe and inspect areas to maintain facility safety and security.
- Works in indoor and outdoor conditions.
- Move up to 50lbs with or without assistance.
- Communicates clearly verbally to inform and exchange information.
Requirements
- 8-hour and 16-hour OJT NYS Security Guard Program certification required.
- Prior law enforcement experience preferred.
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must hold a valid NYS driver’s license and have a clean driving record.
- Strong work ethic, strong situational awareness skills.
- Good written & oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of cameras, multiplexers, and integrated security alarm systems preferred.
- Knowledge of de-escalation and non-violent crisis intervention practices.
- Hospital/healthcare security experience is preferred.
