About the role

This position is per diem and eligible for applicable shift pay differentials. The Security Officer will provide a safe and secure environment for the patients, visitors, and staff of Wellbridge.

Responsibilities

• Perform roving patrol of the buildings and grounds as scheduled.
• Assist with new patient entry and security procedures.
• Screen all visitors to the Campus at designated guard booths and stationary entry posts.
• Assist intake/admissions team with new patients to the campus: recording personal belongings, calming families using de-escalation techniques, and assisting with physical restraint as directed by medical personnel.
• Monitor security cameras and alarms, looking for unusual occurrences and situations.
• Investigate reports of missing property, take information, and file report internally.
• Enforce all campus safety policies and procedures: no-smoking, no contraband, no alcohol/drugs or paraphernalia.
• Assist medical staff with inspection of rooms, confiscation, and appropriate logging and disposal of same.
• Maintain key control and access control on the Campus.
• Safely transport patients using company vehicle, as needed.
• Maintain a safe and caring environment, delivering care in a culturally sensitive manner and consistent with Wellbridge mission, vision, and values.

Essential Functions

• For patient care needs, this is an on-site role.
• Consistently moves inside and outside campus areas and stands and sits for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to observe and inspect areas to maintain facility safety and security.
• Works in indoor and outdoor conditions.
• Move up to 50lbs with or without assistance.
• Communicates clearly verbally to inform and exchange information.

Requirements

• 8-hour and 16-hour OJT NYS Security Guard Program certification required.
• Prior law enforcement experience preferred.
• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must hold a valid NYS driver’s license and have a clean driving record.
• Strong work ethic, strong situational awareness skills.
• Good written & oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of cameras, multiplexers, and integrated security alarm systems preferred.
• Knowledge of de-escalation and non-violent crisis intervention practices.
• Hospital/healthcare security experience is preferred.
