Security Officer

Responsibilities

• Uses Security Guard Patrol Vehicle to travel to designated Thompson Health Corporation Facilities and provides continual internal and external security and safety patrols.
• Assists residents and associate staff with security and safety concerns.
• Provides fire watch and security service to pre‑designated Thompson Health facilities.
• Responds to incidents and takes appropriate action.
• Works with public officials and administration to investigate and mitigate emergencies.
• Performs routine maintenance of security systems and equipment.

Requirements

• High School Degree or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Current New York State Driver's License.
• Current New York State Security Guard License or Police/Peace Officer exemption.
• Preferred: Hospital environment experience.

Skills

• Knowledge of basic security guard responsibilities and related maintenance procedures.
• Command presence.
• Ability to work independently with flexibility and sound judgment in decision making and prioritizing assignments.
• Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with administration, fire and police personnel.
• Leadership skills demonstrated through life experience and continual training in hospital and health care safety and security.
• Actively guards the confidentiality of sensitive information (patients, staff, health system).

Pay

Pay range: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour; starting pay based on experience.

Schedule

Full‑time – Evenings (3 pm – 11 pm), weekends, holidays.
