SECURITY OFFICER
About the role
This position involves regularly patrolling designated areas to enforce security regulations, assess potential hazards, and maintain secure environments. Key responsibilities include serving as the primary point of contact during emergencies, ensuring safety measures are in place, and coordinating with emergency services.
Responsibilities
- Enforce security regulations and maintain secure areas
- Absorb and relocate unauthorized personnel
- Maintain continuous contact with the main security area
- Complete opening and closing procedures, including arming and disarming alarms
- Ensure windows and doors are secure
- Serve as primary contact in case of emergency
- Evacuate occupants/patrons and ensure the building is secure
- Communicate with emergency personnel and provide information
- Investigate alarms and file incident reports
- Operate two-way communication systems
- Liaise with custodial and maintenance staff
- Address unsafe conditions and provide first aid/CPR
- Identify and resolve security issues
- Train designated staff on security/safety matters
- Develop and revise security procedures
- Provide courier and event support services
- Assist with administrative tasks such as room reservations, emergency phone checks, and mail delivery
- Assist with special events and security tasks
- Assist in escorting individuals as needed
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is preferred.
