About the role

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Serve as the Bureau Security Officer in the management, development, and on-going evaluation of the Bureau's Personnel and Suitability, Physical, and National Security Programs in concert with Federal, Department of Interior (DOI) and Bureau regulation, policy, and practices. Serve as a senior advisor to management and executive leadership developing and implementing strategic plans in support of the Bureau Security operations, policies, and regulations that impacts the Bureau's mission and interface with other operational or security program. Analyze regulations, directives, and policies originating with DOI, Defense Counterintelligence Security Agency (DCSA), and Homeland Security, to determine their impact need for new or modified USGS issuances or policy. Manage and lead the development of short and long-range planning activities and initiatives that include work plans addressing changing technology, work processes, and directives affecting the Bureau's Security Program. Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities to include planning and reviewing work, staffing, identifying training needs, implementing EEO policies, evaluating employees' performance, and carrying out disciplinary actions.

Requirements

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-14 level, you must have one year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. This experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service. Examples of GS-13 level work may include providing expert level advisory services to leadership, management, and staff in the administration of an occupational management and program, and applying an expert level of operational knowledge on a wide variety of security program regulations, policies, and procedures to evaluate complex personnel, physical, and national security programs.

• One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position
• Equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service
• Examples of GS-13 level work include providing expert level advisory services and applying operational knowledge of security program regulations, policies, and procedures
