About the role
Would you like to be part of a team that keeps the cast, crew, celebrity guests and co-workers at The Walt Disney Company safe and secure? Our Security Officers do it all, from working special events like Disney shows to regular perimeter checks of our buildings and offices.
Responsibilities
- Greet visitors, check company IDs, and provide temporary IDs at building entrances
- Evaluate and screen the audience line at live TV shows
- Be a security presence at movie premiers, live performances, events, or private parties
- Patrol hallways and building perimeters to spot safety issues or irregularities
- Fill out the logbook precisely and completely
- Answer questions asked by visitors and employees in a friendly, professional way
- Use your know-how and training to diffuse a tense situation
- Respond to medical or fire incidents, and work directly with local first responders
- Aid private security details brought by celebrities, sports stars, politicians and visiting dignitaries – even the President has been known to stop by
- Control messenger flow and package delivery
- Utilize technology to report and document incidents and manage information flow
- Perform walk-through evaluation at off-site events
Requirements
- 1 year of corporate security, law enforcement or military experience
- Excellent communication skills, including fluent written and spoken English, and strong command of basic English grammar
- The knack for talking to people in a friendly way that gets results
- A “team” orientation and willingness to collaborate
- Physical ability to perform all aspects of the job and be outside in all weather
- Flexible workdays/hours (this is a “shift work” role) and ability to work some overtime
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree or higher preferred
Skills
- Valid Security Guard license issued by your state
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience working under pressure
- Ability to take command and diplomatically control difficult situations

Pay
The pay rate for this role in Durham, NC is $38,800.00-$51,900.00 per year. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
Schedule
This is a “shift work” role and candidates must be flexible to work some overtime.
