Responsibilities
- Patrol hospital property and/or facilities to ensure a safe and secure environment.
- Perform duties outlined in department post orders and policies.
- Cooperate with co-workers and other employees, be respectful, and conduct oneself in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner.
- Treat all patients, visitors, and employees in a fair professional manner.
- Conduct inspections and document potential and real security, health, and safety hazards.
- Upon discovery, conduct initial investigations if needed and submit safety reminders and/or Plant Operations requests.
- Enforce hospital policies, procedures, and regulations, including appearing in court if necessary.
- Investigate and document all reports of criminal or unusual activity, crisis incidents, and policy violations, following up when necessary.
- Complete appropriate incident reports as outlined in department policy.
- Respond to all alarms and take action to normalize, discover the source and/or cause of the alarm, respond to panic alarms in a timely fashion, extinguish fires or contain incidents as necessary, control traffic in emergencies to maintain access for emergency vehicles, allow patient care to continue with minimal interruptions, and return alarm systems to normal operation after all clear.
- Direct and control traffic/parking on property and in garages to ensure safe and expedient traffic flow.
- Enforce parking rules and regulations, issue citations, boot, or tow violators as required by hospital policy.
- Operate and monitor all systems (Fire, Security/Access, Infant Security, etc.) in a proficient, competent manner.
- Conduct assigned inspections of safety/security and fire system components, including monthly inspections of security systems and fire extinguishers.
- Escort personnel to and from the cashier’s office and other locations for the purpose of ensuring their personal safety.
- Escort visitors and employees to and from their vehicles upon request.
Qualifications
- Specialized knowledge or skills required to perform the position duties.
- Specialized education required for this position.
- Good communications skills and ability to deal with the public effectively.
- Licenses and certifications required for this position.
