Security Officer

Location: Terre Haute, IN 47803

About the role

Candidate is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the patrons and employees of Terre Haute Casino Resort, which features 1,000 slot machines, 35 table games including blackjack, craps, roulette, and poker tables, a 122-room luxury hotel with pool, and 5 restaurants and 6 bars.

Responsibilities

• Relay instructions to other Security Officers at the direction of Security Management.
• Understand the importance of guest safety and maintain excellent communication skills to interact with the public.
• Remain professional and courteous at all times to both Security Officers and the public.
• Provide training to officers as needed.
• Ensure compliance with all rules and regulations of the Indiana Gaming Commission, property standard operating procedures, and all other applicable laws.
• Assist with the destruction of used cards and dice from table games.
• Escort fills, credits, and documents to and from the cage and pit.
• Assist with escorting the casino drop team.
• Identify patrons as they enter the casino to prevent underage access to the gaming floor.
• Act as the shift dispatcher and coordinate the activity of on-duty security officers on the property.
• Drive a property vehicle or shuttle as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of experience in the security field or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Basic math skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Intermediate PC skills, including Microsoft Office experience.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate licensing from the Indiana Gaming Commission.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Work in a high-noise environment and be exposed to smoke on the casino floor.
• Work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
• Lift up to 40 lbs independently and more than 40 lbs with assistance.
• Stand and sit for extended periods of time.
• Strong communication skills: ability to talk and hear to ensure proper communication.
• Strong vision skills, including close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
