Security Officer

Responsibilities

• Check and secure buildings in a timely manner
• Open College facilities when scheduled
• Frequently monitor College buildings and grounds to prevent incidents
• Provide assistance and security during emergencies
• Respond to medical emergencies and investigate incidents
• Keep a daily activity log
• Enforce campus parking regulations
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• A high school degree completion or equivalent is required
• An Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field is preferred
• Two years’ work experience in law enforcement, public safety, security, or corrections is required
• A personal history free of criminal convictions that legally preclude employment in a position of trust is required
• Demonstrated oral, written, and interpersonal skills are required
• Demonstrated knowledge of basic criminal law is required

Benefits

College Security Officers shall not act in the capacity as a law enforcement officer nor present themselves as being a law enforcement officer under any circumstance. Security officers will notify law enforcement personnel in such cases where criminal activity is observed.
