Responsible for the physical security of all St. Mary's and Clearwater Health-owned, leased, and operated facilities, including hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare locations throughout the service area, as needed, including Cottonwood, Orofino, Pierce, Kamiah, Nezperce, Grangeville, Craigmont, Elk City, and other affiliated sites. Assists medical staff in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors within its legal boundaries.
Responsibilities
- Works in a manner compatible with St. Mary's and Clearwater Health culture and service orientation.
- Patrols hospital buildings and grounds; provides escorts for employees and visitors.
- Responds to emergency calls and assists in restraining aggressive patients, as needed.
- Completes weapons secure and releases in accordance with practice.
- Exercises independent judgment in carrying out overall responsibilities.
- Serves as a public relations representative for the organization.
- Assists law enforcement at all St. Mary's and Clearwater Health facilities as needed.
- Performs dispatching functions, including dispatching officers across multiple locations.
- Monitors multiple systems, including camera systems, fire systems, infant abduction alarms, panic alarms, building alarms, and outgoing emergency calls.
- Conducts searches of clients, patients, and belongings, including confiscation of drugs and drug paraphernalia, as needed.
- Provides assistance with jump starts and lockouts.
- Addresses parking problems.
- Communicates with patients, visitors, providers, and staff via telephone, radio, and in person.
- Enforces St. Mary's and Clearwater Health's no-smoking policy.
- Works under limited supervision in a variety of routine and non-routine situations requiring good judgment and confidentiality.
- Identifies and distinguishes individuals through camera systems and in person.
- Detects and responds to alarms/calls through overhead call and radio systems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate degree preferred.
- 1 to 3 years of military, law enforcement, or security background preferred.
- Healthcare security experience desired.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and reliable transportation for travel, which is an essential function of this position.
- Must successfully pass an extensive background investigation.
- BLS certification required.
- Must maintain current certification for MOAB, handcuff, baton, and CS spray.
- Must be able to manage multiple responsibilities at once and shift priorities as needed.
- Successful completion of Basic Level Certification and receipt of certificate through the International Association for Hospital Security and Safety (IAHSS) within 1 year of hire required.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function.
- Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned.
Schedule
Full time, 40 hours per week. St. Mary's and Clearwater Health operate 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Operational needs may require availability to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays to meet patient needs.
