Security Officer

About the role

St. Andrew’s seeks a security officer who will operate the welcome center by providing surveillance of campus grounds, and protecting our students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Security has an on-campus presence 24/7. This person must have strong people skills, a strong work ethic, and excellent judgment. Shifts include various hours, including night, weekend, and holiday work which may involve considerable exposure to all weather elements.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and authorize the entrance of vehicles and/or people on the property.
• Secure premises by patrolling regularly either on foot or in a vehicle.
• Monitor surveillance equipment.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Adhere to all St. Andrew’s operating procedures.
• Immediately respond to emergencies to provide necessary assistance to students, employees, and visitors. Physically demanding tasks may include running short distances, squatting, bending, lifting (potentially removing a victim from harm’s way), climbing, and handling a physical confrontation.
• Provide medical assistance, administering CPR, AED, or first aid as needed.

Requirements

• Must be at least 20 years of age.
• Must be a high school graduate or possess a high school equivalency certificate.
• Possession of valid driver’s license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).

Conditions of Hire

A thorough background check—inclusive of fingerprinting, a Child Protection Registry Check, a motor vehicle record check, and other relevant screenings—is required as a condition of employment. Applicants must complete satisfactory reference checks, confirmation of compliance with federal and state employment laws, and any other required conditions of employment.
