Key Essential Functions And Accountabilities Of The Job

• Patrols campus and assigned areas to monitor for conditions or situations which pose a risk to the safety of people or property.
• Provides routine comprehensive security services, including:
• Assistance with patient restraint;
• Intervention in disruptions by patients;
• Traffic control;
• Guarding and patrolling physical property;
• Escorting visitors and employees;
• Monitoring systems;
• Orienting and monitoring of personnel working in high-risk areas;
• Investigation of incidents;
• Access control;
• Enforcement of visitor policies;
• Respond to emergencies;
• Respirator fit testing;
• Hazard surveillance surveys;
• Participation in emergency drills;
• Public assistance requests.

Additional Details

• Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required:
• A High School Diploma or equivalent,
• A valid Alaska driver’s license,
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days,
• IAHSS Basic certification within 3 months.

Experience Required

• Six months of security-related experience.

Knowledge of Security policies and procedures

• Skills In Effective communication
• Ability to Defuse potential security situations, including aggressive individuals
• Exercise good judgement in stressful and emergent situations
