Security Officer
About the role
This position is responsible for providing and maintaining a safe and secure environment of the patients, visitors, and staff of Regions Hospital. Regions Hospital is an inner-city Level 1 Trauma Center with a large inpatient mental health care setting.
Responsibilities
- Proactively build relationships with patients and employees to resolve conflict by using approved conflict resolution techniques.
- Partner with law enforcement and other community partners to address criminal offenses or emergent situations such as fire, threat to the facility, or violence.
- Provide a variety of services ranging from routine patrols, report writing, video surveillance, investigative services and other duties.
- Function as Security Lead as needed and selected by leadership.
Requirements
- Two years of combined experience working in security, law enforcement, military
- Two years of healthcare experience or Fire/EMS experience
- Successful completion of two years of college or technical college course work preferably in law enforcement or criminal justice or healthcare
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license in good standing
- Basic Life Support certification required within 6 months of hire
- Basic IAHSS Certification from the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety within 6 months of hire
