About the role

As a Security Officer at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital, you will perform a variety of security protective duties to protect patients, visitors, staff, physicians, property, and facilities from accidents, bodily harm, fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. You will enforce PH&S, facility, and security policies and regulations, investigate reports of potential criminal conduct, assist in restraining patients, detain individuals when necessary, and provide protective services to high-risk areas.

Mobile positions will conduct vehicle and foot patrols, patient transports, site surveys, threat assessments, patient standbys, alarm/nuisance call response, special details, and assist in training clinic personnel. You may be required to support any Providence or affiliated organizations within the Oregon Region.

Responsibilities

Protect patients, visitors, staff, physicians, property, and facilities from accidents, harm, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.
Enforce PH&S, facility, and security policies and regulations.
Investigate reports of potential criminal conduct against PH&S staff, visitors, and property.
Respond and assist in restraining patients; detain individuals when necessary or at the direction of a police officer.
Provide protective services to high-risk areas.
Conduct vehicle and foot patrols, patient transports, site surveys, threat assessments, and alarm/nuisance call responses.
Assist in training clinic personnel and perform special details as required.

Requirements

Oregon Private Security Armed/Unarmed Professional certification from the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training, or
Oregon Private Security Unarmed Professional certification from the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training, or
Private Security Temporary Work Permit PS-20 upon hire.
Driving may be necessary; compliance with all state laws and requirements for driving, including proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request.
1 year of experience using personal computers with standard Microsoft applications.

Preferred Qualifications

College-level coursework in criminal justice, social work, psychology, or any social science.
High School Diploma or GED.
1 year of security/law enforcement experience (e.g., corrections, police, reserve, military police).
Direct patient care experience in a healthcare industry.

Pay

The base pay range for this position is $20.92 - $32.00 per hour. Additional compensation may be available, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.

Schedule

Full-time (36 hours per week), variable schedule.
