About the role
The Security Officer plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of all guests, team members, and company property at Owensboro Racing & Gaming. This position is responsible for monitoring surveillance systems, patrolling assigned areas, and responding to incidents and emergencies in a professional and timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and Patrol: Actively monitor surveillance systems and conduct routine patrols of assigned areas to ensure a secure and safe environment throughout the facility.
- Incident Response: Respond quickly and appropriately to alarms, disturbances, or emergencies in accordance with established security protocols.
- Facility Inspections: Perform regular walkthroughs to identify safety hazards, suspicious behavior, or potential security breaches, reporting findings promptly.
- Enforcement: Enforce company policies, property rules, and Kentucky state gaming regulations to ensure compliance and maintain order.
- Customer Service: Assist guests and team members with inquiries, directions, or concerns in a professional and helpful manner.
- Reporting: Accurately document incidents, observations, and actions taken in written reports and electronic logs.
- Liaison Duties: Work cooperatively with law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services when assistance is required.
- Training Support: Provide on-the-job guidance and mentorship to new or less experienced security personnel as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older to apply.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with guests, employees, and emergency personnel.
- Keen observational skills and situational awareness to identify and address potential safety or security concerns.
- Ability to remain calm, composed, and professional in high-pressure or emergency situations.
- Capacity to follow detailed procedures and protocols with accuracy and consistency.
- Demonstrated integrity and the ability to handle confidential or sensitive information appropriately.
- Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Proficiency with basic computer systems and the ability to learn and operate surveillance and security software.
- Must be physically able to patrol large areas on foot and respond quickly to incidents.
- Able to prepare accurate reports and maintain thorough documentation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Prior experience in security, law enforcement, military, or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with surveillance equipment, patrol procedures, and emergency response protocols is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to de-escalate tense situations calmly and professionally.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license.
