Security Officer

Duties And Responsibilities

• Make regular inspection tours of campus buildings, parking lots, and grounds to prevent theft, vandalism, and other security incidents.
• Respond promptly to calls for assistance, alarms, and emergency situations (medical, fire, safety, etc.).
• Monitor surveillance systems and access control systems.
• Ensure that only authorized persons are admitted to assigned areas of buildings.
• Enforce campus rules, parking regulations, and safety procedures.
• Conduct safety checks of doors, windows, and equipment.
• Prepare accurate incident, accident, and daily activity reports.
• Provide safety escorts for students, staff, and visitors as needed.
• Aid law enforcement and emergency personnel when required.
• Work and communicate with internal and external customers to meet their needs in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner.

• General knowledge of procedures involved in buildings and grounds security.
• Exceptional customer service abilities, with the ability to communicate effectively and courteously with both internal and external customers.

Minimum Qualifications

• A high school diploma with some specialized training of less than 2 years (technical or business school).
• 5 years security experience.
• Certification in first aid, self-defense, ASP training (or are willing to become certified or recertified).
• A valid Driver's license.
• An acceptable FBI/BCA background check and Motor vehicle check.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPR certification (or are willing to become certified or recertified).

Pay Range

The estimated pay range for this position is $15.79 - $22.11 per hour.
