Job Summary
The Security Officer ensures the safety of the healthcare enterprise by responding to security emergencies, documenting incidents, observing activities, enforcing regulations, and supporting quality improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Respond rapidly to security emergencies within the hospital or healthcare settings
- Maintain a professional demeanor at all times
- Document all incidents and requests for assistance within the hospital reporting platform
- Observe and report activities and incidents at an assigned site
- Preserve order and act to enforce regulations and policies when requested by medical staff/employees
- Support CommonSpirit Health’s strategic plan and quality improvement activities
Requirements
- Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; Six (6) months experience as security officer in a healthcare setting or Law enforcement/military service; or One (1) year experience as a security officer.
- Licenses/Certifications: BLS-CPR from American Heart Association within 90 days; International Association of Healthcare Security Services (IAHSS) Basic course within 90 days of employment.
- Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Familiarity with security officer duties and responsibilities; ability to use assigned equipment and follow established policies; completion of ICS 100HCb, 200b, & 700a training courses within 90 days of hire; maintenance of all required training/certifications thereafter.
- Work Conditions: Medium Work - Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly.
