Security Officer

Job Summary

The Security Officer ensures the safety of the healthcare enterprise by responding to security emergencies, documenting incidents, observing activities, enforcing regulations, and supporting quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Respond rapidly to security emergencies within the hospital or healthcare settings
• Maintain a professional demeanor at all times
• Document all incidents and requests for assistance within the hospital reporting platform
• Observe and report activities and incidents at an assigned site
• Preserve order and act to enforce regulations and policies when requested by medical staff/employees
• Support CommonSpirit Health’s strategic plan and quality improvement activities

Requirements

• Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; Six (6) months experience as security officer in a healthcare setting or Law enforcement/military service; or One (1) year experience as a security officer.
• Licenses/Certifications: BLS-CPR from American Heart Association within 90 days; International Association of Healthcare Security Services (IAHSS) Basic course within 90 days of employment.
• Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Familiarity with security officer duties and responsibilities; ability to use assigned equipment and follow established policies; completion of ICS 100HCb, 200b, & 700a training courses within 90 days of hire; maintenance of all required training/certifications thereafter.
• Work Conditions: Medium Work - Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly.
