Overview

Employer paid benefits include Medical, Dental, and Vision. Wage compensation ranges from $20.60 to $31.55 per hour. Schedule: 3/12 hour shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol hospital buildings, grounds, and premises regularly to deter and detect security breaches.
  • Maintain order and protect hospital buildings, assets, and premises by responding to inquiries for advice or assistance.
  • Respond effectively to incidents, provide physical restraint of psychiatric patients, and maintain accurate records.
  • Secure and/or unlock offices, facilities, and designated areas according to schedule or request.
  • Control parking and traffic flow on hospital premises, enforce parking regulations, and assist with the care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in security investigations, gather evidence, and maintain accurate records.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports and other essential documentation related to security activities.
  • Support the hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
  • Engage in continuous professional development through educational programs, current literature review, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferred: Associate’s degree in criminal justice, Security Management, or a related field.
  • Licenses/ Certifications: Valid State issued Driver’s License required. Unarmed Guard certification from the Oregon Department of Public Safety and Security (DPSST) required or shall be obtained upon hire. Current CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certification required. Current MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) or equivalent de-escalation/restraint certification required upon hire.
  • Experience: None required. Previous experience in security operations, criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred.
  • Other Proficiency: Proficiency with Microsoft operating systems and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Physical Requirements: Sufficient auditory ability to detect and respond to various sounds, clear and effective communication, strong interpersonal skills, ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations, strong observation and problem-solving skills, ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, ability to lift to 50 pounds independently, occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, walking and standing for long periods, occasional lifting or transferring of individuals weighing over 100 pounds, frequent pushing, pulling, carrying, or repositioning of objects or patients weighing up to 25 pounds, frequent exposure to infectious and contagious diseases, hazardous materials, and medical equipment, ability to work effectively with limited supervision, demonstrate initiative and sound judgment, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to interact respectfully and effectively with a culturally diverse population (patients, visitors, staff).

Physical Requirements

  • Auditory ability to detect and respond to various sounds, including patient alarms and verbal communication.
  • Clear and effective communication.
  • Visual acuity for observing patient conditions, reading documentation and monitors, and distinguishing colors for clinical purposes.
  • Tactile perception for assessing physical characteristics such as temperature, size, shape, or texture during patient care.
  • Motor coordination for reaching, grasping, handling, and performing fine motor tasks necessary for the use of medical equipment and procedures.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling when assisting patients or accessing equipment.
  • Walking and standing are typically continuous throughout the shift.
  • The ability to lift to 50 pounds independently and involve frequent pushing, pulling, carrying, or repositioning of objects or patients weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional lifting or transferring of individuals weighing over 100 pounds, with the expectation that appropriate lifting techniques, mechanical aids, or team assistance will be used to ensure safety.

  • Multiple simultaneous demands and varying levels of noise due to medical equipment, staff activity, and patient needs.
