About the Role
As a member of the Electric Boat Security Organization, you will be responsible for the protection of employees, the product, facility, and technology that are integral to the defense of our nation. The Security Organization performs a critical role in supporting the business.
Responsibilities
- Enforce regulations and directives pertaining to personnel, visitors, and facilities, including maintaining access control into and throughout our facilities.
- Patrol or respond to calls for service on the facility by foot or vehicle.
- Respond to and assess security alarms or emergency situations.
- Maintain access control of internal access points.
- Conduct security checks of off-site facilities.
- Preserve order and enforce rules, regulations, and directives.
- Maintain professionalism while ensuring high-quality security services in the protection of personnel, property, and information.
Must have the ability to perform these specific duties and essential functions:
- Work in all weather and industrial environments applicable to Electric Boat.
- Stand for extended periods of time.
- Climb ladders and enter confined spaces.
- Possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
- Obtain and retain a local and state pistol permit with State of CT Security Officer endorsement.
- Obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Prior security-related experience.
- Valid motor vehicle license from state of residency.
- Valid CT State pistol permit at the time of application.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
- U.S. citizen & 21+ years of age.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Connecticut Security Officer endorsement.
- Pass a post-offer neuropsychological evaluation prior to hiring.
- Vision correctable to 20/20.
Qualifications (Preferred)
- 4 or more years of Military, Law Enforcement, Department of Corrections, Armed Security, or an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, or a related field.
- Industrial or Nuclear Security Experience.
- Experience monitoring access control points.
- Experience monitoring and using CCTV.
- Experience working as a security officer in large crowds.
- Security experience protecting nuclear materials.
- Department of Defense (DoD) Security Clearance.
- Valid CT State Pistol Permit with (Blue Card/Class 1) endorsement.
Skills
- Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
- Ability to use computer and software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel).

Environmental attributes include exposure to cold, dry, dusty, fumes, hot, inside, noisy, oily, outside, and wet conditions.

Hourly rates from $22.99 - $33.96.
