About the role

Uniformed Security Officers are responsible for protecting the site’s building, grounds, assets, employees, students, and visitors against criminal activity, accidents, fires, and natural disasters. Officers also provide outstanding customer service to customers, clients, and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Guard posts at entry/exit points of client buildings and grounds
  • Conduct foot and/or vehicle patrols of interior and exterior areas to ensure safety and security
  • Prevent unauthorized persons from entering restricted areas
  • Check employee, vendor, and visitor identifications
  • Monitor for suspicious people, packages, and activities
  • Follow site-specific post guidelines
  • Document daily activities and report all incidents
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Must be at least 21 years old and hold a Michigan CPL or LEOSA cardholder certification for armed security work
  • No felony convictions (per MCL 338.106010(1)(c))
  • No misdemeanor convictions related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including marijuana), or two or more alcohol-related offenses (per MCL 338.106010(1)(c))
  • Pass a drug screening at hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana)
  • Adhere to company’s Uniform and Appearance policy; present a friendly, positive, and professional image
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including de-escalation abilities
  • Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
  • Willing to become CPR/First Aid/AED certified and capable of administering emergency care
  • Able to move quickly, including running short distances, to respond in emergencies
  • Able to sit, stand, and walk long distances (including stairs) for 8–12 hour shifts
  • Able to work indoors or outdoors in all seasons
  • Able to hear conversations (in person or via 2-way radio) in noisy environments
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds (70 lbs. for armed security officers)
  • Able to work independently with little or no supervision

Benefits

Part-time benefit package available after 1 year of employment, averaging 20+ hours per week at the time of eligibility. Benefits are offered once annually in November to eligible employees. Eligibility may be lost if availability changes and scheduling needs are not met.

Pay

$20.00/hour

Schedule

Part-time, Monday through Friday, various days and shifts between 0700–1900.
